Description

Cohasset Town Manager Christopher Senior has come up short in his bid to become Hopkinton's next town manager.

Hopkinton's select board instead promoted Assistant Town Manager Elaine Lazarus to town manager.

Senior was the second choice of three of the five select board members.

On July 2, the select board interviewed Senior, Lazarus and two other finalists for 45 minutes each.

Cohasset officials named Senior town manager in December 2013. He had been deputy town supervisor in North Hempstead, New York.

Senior has a bachelor’s degree in journalism and economics from Boston University and a law degree from Hofstra University School of Law. He has worked in both private and public law, and was the deputy county attorney in Mineola, New York, before taking the North Hempstead job in 2004.

Tom Benoit of The MetroWest Daily News contributed to this report.
