Police in Norwell and Quincy investigating 7-11 robberies
Norwell and Quincy police are investigating two 7-11 robberies that happened less than an hour apart on Wednesday, April 17. Police have confirmed the robberies are related.

QUINCY − Three masked men with weapons held up the 7-Eleven store on Franklin Street on Wednesday morning, and police confirmed Thursday that the three suspects were also involved in a similar robbery in Norwell a half-hour earlier.

Quincy police said an officer pursued a blue Hyundai through the intersection of Water and Liberty Streets in Quincy, according to a police press release. The car fled the officer but crashed after hitting a fire hydrant and telephone pole a short distance from Water Street.

The men fled the scene of the crash on foot through the yards of homes in the neighborhood, police said. A search of the area failed to locate the suspects, but an investigation of the crash scene led them to believe that the men in the vehicle were the same who robbed the 7-Eleven.

Another car was subsequently stolen in the area shortly after, which police believe was done by the same group.

As reported by WCVB, three masked suspects, two of them armed, described as Spanish-speaking Hispanic men, stole $500 from the 7-Eleven at 95 Washington St. in Norwell just after 4:15 a.m. They left in a black sedan towards Hingham, police said.

Norwell Police Chief Edward Lee said Thursday that the investigation by his department, Quincy police and other agencies working on the case have since been able confirm the three suspects' connection to all the crimes, although further details on how were not available.

Lee also said police are developing a list of suspects as information continues to come in based on what he called breaking developments overnight Wednesday.
