QUINCY − A popular Tex-Mex restaurant in North Quincy will close its door at the end of the month after more than 40 years in business.
On Monday morning, La Paloma Mexican Restaurant, 195 Newport Ave., announced on social media that it will close permanently on June 29. Co-owners Michael Walsh and Stephen Dwyer said in the post that they decided to retire to spend more time with family.
"We have been blessed to serve our community for the past 41 years," the post reads. "We have made a lot of great connections, memories and friends along the way through good times and bad."
Walsh and Dwyer thanked their staff for their dedication and customers for their support. They advised customers to use unused gift cards in the coming weeks before its too late.
La Paloma is open Tuesday through Sunday from 4 to 9 p.m.
La Paloma is the second North Quincy mainstay to announce its closing at the end of June. LeeAnn Viera McDonough, owner of the Wheelhouse Diner at 453 Hancock St., said she will close the restaurant on the last day of the month.
McDonough's landlord had initiated eviction proceedings in Quincy District Court. The diner had operated in the same location for 77 years.
