MARSHFIELD – After nearly 90 years at the helm, the Haddad family will sell its popular Brant Rock seafood restaurant this summer.
Brothers Chuck and Mitch Haddad announced they reached an agreement to sell Haddad's Ocean Café to the Assembly Restaurant Group in August.
Haddad's operated out of a smaller restaurant for 75 years before the brothers built their current two-story restaurant in 2012, which has a capacity of nearly 400 people and also has a function space.
"Being a part of the community is something we have always cherished. A true community restaurant is many things; a meeting place, a place to celebrate, a place to come after a hard day of work to unwind with friends and family," the brothers said in a Facebook post.
Established in 1937, the restaurant has continually been run by four generations of the Haddad family. The restaurant's original owner was Louis Haddad, who ran the restaurant from 1937 until his death in 1959.
Two of Louis' nephews, George and Hal Haddad, took over the business, followed by George's three sons, Chuck, Mitch and George Haddad. Chuck and Mitch Haddad have been the two owners of the business since 2011.
